High-carbon solid fuel for power generation, cement manufacturing, and steel production.
Petroleum coke (petcoke) is a solid, carbon-rich material produced in the delayed coking or fluid coking units of oil refineries as a byproduct of the thermal cracking of heavy residual oil fractions. With fixed carbon content typically exceeding 80 percent and a calorific value comparable to high-rank coal, petcoke is an economically attractive fuel and carbon source for energy-intensive industries worldwide.
Intentions Institute Inc. supplies both fuel-grade petcoke (green coke) and calcined petroleum coke (CPC) from refineries in the United States, the Middle East, and India. Fuel-grade petcoke is used primarily as a combustion fuel in cement kilns, power plants, and industrial boilers, where its high energy content and relatively low cost per BTU provide significant advantages over coal and other solid fuels. Calcined petcoke, processed at temperatures exceeding 1,200 degrees Celsius, is used as a carbon anode material in aluminum smelting and as a carbon raiser in steel manufacturing.
The Hardgrove Grindability Index (HGI) of our fuel-grade petcoke typically ranges from 35 to 75, making it suitable for pulverized fuel combustion systems and circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers. Sulfur content varies by origin, with low-sulfur grades (under 3 percent) available for markets with strict emission controls and high-sulfur grades (4 to 7 percent) offered at competitive pricing for plants equipped with flue gas desulfurization systems.
We offer supply on FOB and CIF terms with typical parcel sizes of 10,000 to 50,000 metric tons. Bulk vessel loading, barge transfer, and containerized shipments are all supported depending on destination port capabilities and buyer infrastructure.
